Basketball Game Preview: Thayer Central Titans vs. Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines

The Thayer Central Titans will venture away from home to take on the Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Thayer Central has three straight wins, Wilber-Clatonia has 15 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Saturday, Thayer Central really took it to Deshler for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-19 victory. With the Titans ahead 34-3 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Thayer Central found their leader in freshman Leah Havel, who went 6 for 7 on her way to 17 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for Havel. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Tietjen, who posted 11 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Wilber-Clatonia scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southern.

Wilber-Clatonia's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Thayer Central, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.

Everything came up roses for Thayer Central against Wilber-Clatonia in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 44-15 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Thayer Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
