Volleyball Recap: Steele Victorious

With a playoff win on the line, Steele rose to the challenge on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Howland Tigers 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Comets.

Hector Mendez was the offensive standout of the match as he had 24 assists. Those 24 assists gave him a new career-high. Evan Thomson also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assists of the season.

Steele was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 11 consecutive contests.

Steele's victory bumped their record up to 17-7. As for Howland, the loss snapped their winning streak at four matches and leaves them with a 19-5 record.

Coming up, Steele will challenge Springfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Howland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
