Basketball Game Preview: Northridge Vikings vs. Watkins Memorial Warriors

Northridge is 1-7 against Watkins Memorial since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Northridge Vikings will venture away from home to take on the Watkins Memorial Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, Northridge didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Lakewood, but they still walked away with a 57-51 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Watkins Memorial ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They secured a 40-35 W over Licking Valley.

Watkins Memorial found their leader in freshman Casey Wheeler, who posted 13 points. Wheeler is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kamryn Caldwell, who had eight points and five rebounds.

Northridge now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Watkins Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.

Northridge barely slipped by Watkins Memorial in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 36-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northridge since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
