Football Recap: Waterloo Comes Up Short

Waterloo played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 36-8 loss at the hands of the Markesan Hornets. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin football rankings (they are ranked 277th, while the Hornets are ranked 117th).

Waterloo's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Markesan, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Coming up, Waterloo will welcome Deerfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates are facing the Demons at the right time seeing as the Demons are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Markesan, they are taking a road trip to challenge Pardeeville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.43 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
