Soccer Game Preview: Socastee vs. St. James

The Socastee Braves will head out on the road to take on the St. James Sharks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Socastee has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while St. James will arrive with three straight victories.

On Tuesday, Socastee didn't have quite enough to beat Conway and fell 4-3. One reason for the loss might be Socastee's aggressive play style: Costa Stathos and Yury Santos were both handed yellow cards.

Meanwhile, St. James made easy work of North Myrtle Beach on Tuesday and carried off a 4-1 win. Considering St. James have won seven contests by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit North Myrtle Beach with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Christian Bartol, Jameson Crawford, Mason Divirgilio, and Cooper Flynn.

St. James' victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Socastee, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Socastee came out on top in a nail-biter against St. James in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Braves since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
