Baseball Recap: Rye Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gunnison, Rye was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Rocky Ford Meloneers. The Thunderbolts haven't had any issues with the Meloneers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Axton Erlich and Pierce Burris made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Erlich didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out ten over 4.1 innings pitched. Meanwhile, Burris pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Erlich scored two runs and stole Four bases. while going 3-for-3, while Burris scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs Burris has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Rye saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Branson Burbidge, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4.

Rye's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Rocky Ford, they now also have a losing record of 1-2.
