Basketball Recap: Hale's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

If Hale was feeling good fresh off their 67-31 takedown of Owendale-Gagetown last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hale Eagles took a 40-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Au Gres-Sims Wolverines. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolverines earlier this season, when they won 50-47.

Au Gres-Sims found their leader in sophomore Sophie Fox, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Fox has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Adelaide Bauer was another key player, putting up six points in addition to nine boards and three steals.

The loss snapped Hale's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-7 record. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points over those games. As for Au Gres-Sims, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 16-6.

Hale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Au Gres-Sims, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-41 defeat against Mio-Au Sable on the 7th.
