The Ansonia Tigers will square off against the Bradford Railroaders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Ansonia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Ansonia was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Mississinawa Valley on Thursday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Blackhawks with a sharp 8-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Blackhawks: they've now won five in a row.

Addie Geyer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Geyer was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shyann McKenna, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Lillian Kaiser, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Bradford's offense. They came up short against Arcanum on Thursday, falling 17-0. The Railroaders have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Bradford saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Elsner, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
The victory got Ansonia back to even at 7-7. As for Bradford, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.
Bradford's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Ansonia has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Bradford, though, as they've been averaging 9.5 hits. Given Ansonia's sizable advantage in that area, the Railroaders will need to find a way to close that gap.
Ansonia took their win against Bradford when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-1 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Railroaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
