If Donna North wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Edcouch-Elsa, they should've done a better job of containing Alliyah Ramirez. The Yellowjackets put the hurt on the Chiefs with a sharp 3-0 victory on Saturday thanks in part to Ramirez, who had 26 digs. She has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 11 times she's played.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Edcouch-Elsa was: they took every set by at least 16 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-6, 25-9.
Edcouch-Elsa's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Addison Gonzalez, who had ten digs and seven aces. That's the most aces Gonzalez has posted since back in October of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Timara Leal, who had 12 digs.
They weren't the only good servers: Edcouch-Elsa was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. They are 9-1 when they serve at least ten aces.
Meanwhile, Rivera got the win against Harlingen South on Saturday by a conclusive 3-0.
The final score came out to 25-17, 25-8, 25-9.
Edcouch-Elsa's win bumped their record up to 17-13. As for Rivera, their victory bumped their record up to 26-7.
