Preview: Christ Church Episcopal Cavaliers vs. Johnsonville Flashes
Christ Church Episcopal has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Johnsonville Flashes at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Christ Church Episcopal: 15.6, Johnsonville: 17.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
Christ Church Episcopal had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They claimed a resounding 53-20 victory over St. Joseph's Catholic at home. The result was nothing new for Christ Church Episcopal, who have now won ten matches by 20 points or more so far this season.
Christ Church Episcopal's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jackson Repp, who picked up 119 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Tucker Hendrix was another key contributor, throwing for 341 yards and three touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes.
Christ Church Episcopal's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. In that department, Will Marguet was the leader with two sacks.
Meanwhile, Johnsonville had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came out on top against Bamberg-Ehrhardt by a score of 20-10.
Christ Church Episcopal has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 12-2 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.3 points per game. As for Johnsonville, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2-1 record this season.
Everything went Christ Church Episcopal's way against Johnsonville in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as Christ Church Episcopal made off with a 43-20 win.
