Basketball Game Preview: Cibola Cougars vs. Cleveland Storm

Cibola hasn't had much luck against Cleveland recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cibola Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cleveland Storm at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Cibola is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Atrisco Heritage Academy, who was ranked 13th at the time (Cibola was ranked eighth). Cibola strolled past Atrisco Heritage Academy with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 77-59. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cleveland). They came out on top against Hobbs by a score of 84-75 on Saturday. The win was some much needed relief for the Storm as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Cibola is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.4 points per game. As for Cleveland, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.

Cibola might still be hurting after the 87-66 loss they got from Cleveland when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Cibola avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
