Basketball Recap: Phoenix Firebirds vs. Solvay Bearcats
The Phoenix Firebirds had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They really took it to Solvay for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-25 win at home. Phoenix has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Despite the defeat, Solvay saw an underclassman step up: Ciara Togni dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Phoenix's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Solvay, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.
Phoenix will head out on the road to challenge the Lakers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Solvay, they will be playing at home against the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
