Softball Recap: Orange Panthers vs. Eastern Alamance Eagles
Orange was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell just short of the Eastern Alamance Eagles by a score of 4-3. Orange was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Eastern Alamance apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April.
Orange saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rhiley Crabtree, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
On Eastern Alamance's side, Delani Straughan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. Straughan has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in eight consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Taylor Byrd was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Orange's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Eastern Alamance, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-8.
