Baseball Recap: Gateway Comes Up Short

Gateway had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 6-11 to make it six. They fell 3-0 to the Connellsville Falcons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Gators of the 6-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2019.

Gateway saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nicolai Comunale, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Connellsville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games.

On Connellsville's side, the result came thanks to Mason Miller's shutout, as he gave up just five hits. Miller has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

While Gateway had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
