Basketball Recap: Mikaela-Zoe Colon and Isla Koffmann Secure Win for Lutheran

Lutheran's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 40-24 victory over the Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Red-Tailed Hawks are ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Lutheran to victory were Isla Koffmann and Mikaela-Zoe Colon. Koffmann went 5-for-7 on her way to 11 points and six rebounds, while Colon posted 13 points. Those 11 points gave Koffmann a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gia Genovese, who put up five points and five assists.

Lutheran was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cheyenne Mountain only posted four assists.

Lutheran's record now sits at 8-10. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.

Lutheran has already played their next match, a 45-42 win against Palmer Ridge on the 7th. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-19 loss against Lewis-Palmer on the 7th.
