Tate Catanese made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and one run. Clymer Central/Sherman/Panama is undefeated when Catanese posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-4 otherwise.
In other batting news, Bryce Hinsdale and Gavin Burchanowski did most of the damage at the plate: Hinsdale went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Burchanowski got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three RBI gave Hinsdale a new career-high. Jonny Abers was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Clymer Central/Sherman/Panama kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Brocton came up short against Frewsburg on Thursday and fell 5-1. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.
Clymer Central/Sherman/Panama's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Brocton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Clymer Central/Sherman/Panama couldn't quite finish off Brocton in their previous meeting on Tuesday and fell 5-3. Can the Wolfpack avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
