Softball Game Preview: Chicago Christian Knights vs. Marian Catholic Spartans

The Chicago Christian Knights will head out to take on the Marian Catholic Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chicago Christian is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Chicago Christian lost 18-5 to Wheaton Academy on Monday.

Brenna Schaafsma and Abby Moro stepped up to the plate in a big way. Schaafsma scored a run while going 2-for-2, while Moro scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Abby Rashan also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Marian Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Lincoln-Way West, falling 13-3. That's two games in a row now that the Spartans have lost by exactly ten runs.

Gracie Jensen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Chicago Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Marian Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chicago Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .415. However, it's not like Marian Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Chicago Christian might still be hurting after the 17-0 loss they got from Marian Catholic when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
