Volleyball Recap: Poudre Gets the Win

Poudre was handed a three-set defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bear Creek Bears, sneaking past 2-1. That's more bragging rights for the Impalas, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Poudre was actually outscored in aggregate across those three sets (58-56), but they still managed to win. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 14-25, 17-15.

Miley Gutierrez and Alana Hernandez certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Gutierrez had 16 digs and one assist, while Hernandez had seven digs. Gutierrez is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last four games she's played. Ella Meyers also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

Poudre's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4. As for Bear Creek, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Coincidentally, Poudre and Bear Creek will both be playing Northfield the next time they take the court. The Bears will head out to face the Nighthawks at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Impalas will play them later in the day, at 10:00 a.m.
