Softball Recap: Bloom-Carroll Comes Up Short

Bloom-Carroll dropped to 17-4 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Lancaster Golden Gales by a score of 7-6. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Gales apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Gabby Johnson 2026 (Wilmington Colle and Madelyn Gates 2026 (Northern Kentucky) did some serious damage despite the final result: Johnson 2026 (Wilmington Colle went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while (Northern Kentucky) went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Brown 2026 (Wittenberg), who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Lancaster, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games.

On Lancaster's side, they let Kendall Brown 2026 MU and Alieya Garner 2027 run wild. Brown 2026 MU fired off two home runs and one double while going 3-for-3, while Garner 2027 fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave Garner 2027 a new career-high. Hannah Smith 2026 also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bloom-Carroll will square off against John Glenn at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Lancaster, they will challenge Logan at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Golden Gales' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chieftains have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season.
