Football Game Preview: Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets vs. Payson Longhorns

Blue Ridge and Payson are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Yellow Jackets will square off against the Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Payson took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Blue Ridge, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Blue Ridge beat Round Valley 25-21.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Breckan Sarchet and Karlo Harris. Sarchet rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries while Harris rushed for 110 yards and a pair of scores. Harris is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 102 every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 62 points the game before, Payson was a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They came up short against Round Valley, falling 30-6. The matchup marked the Longhorns' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Payson fell to 5-1. As for Blue Ridge, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Blue Ridge couldn't quite get it done against Payson when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 30-21. Can the Yellow Jackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
