Softball Game Preview: Greenwood Wildcats vs. Juniata Indians

Greenwood hasn't had much luck against Juniata recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Wildcats will host the Indians at 4:30 p.m. Juniata took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Greenwood, who comes in off a win.

Greenwood is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past East Juniata 13-6 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wildcats needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Makenzie Devore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Greenwood let Jayden Brosius and Nicole Herr run wild. Brosius went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Herr went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave Brosius a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lilly Kessler, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Greenwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Juniata was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 12-2 to Halifax. That's two games in a row now that the Indians have lost by exactly ten runs.

Greenwood's win ended an 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-12. As for Juniata, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
