Softball Recap: George Washington Prep Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

While George Washington Prep's victory against Hawkins wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Generals narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Hawks 30-29. Winning may never get old, but the Generals sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Katherine Franco was incredible, getting on base in six of her seven plate appearances with five runs, five RBI, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (four). Teaka Evans was another key player, getting on base in five of her seven plate appearances with six runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.

George Washington Prep pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Hawkins, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. George Washington Prep will host Alliance Bloomfield at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulls have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.89 runs per game on average), something the Generals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hawkins, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Crenshaw at 3:00 p.m.
