Ridgeland turns things around after tough road loss

There's no place like home for the Ridgeland Titans, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 71-59 win over Brandon on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Ridgeland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Stevent Watkins led the charge by scoring 16 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals. The matchup was Watkins' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Phil Nelson, who scored 18 points along with 5 assists.

Brandon's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Braylon Barnes, who scored 28 points. The matchup was Barnes' tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kori Taylor, who scored 8 points along with 9 rebounds.

Ridgeland has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Brandon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

Ridgeland will head out on the road to face off against Holmes County Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Holmes County Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Brandon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Germantown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Germantown is ranked 48th, while Brandon is ranked 55th).
