Baseball Game Preview: Marina Mariners vs. Gonzales Spartans

Marina hasn't had much luck against Gonzales recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Mariners will face off against the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. Marina has given up an average of 15 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Marina is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Watsonville, falling 19-1.

Marina saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Douglas Ciolino, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Bryce Laoagan also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Gonzales' offense. They lost 10-0 to North Monterey County on Saturday. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Marina's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Gonzales, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Marina couldn't quite get it done against Gonzales in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can the Mariners avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
