Recap: Highland Hornets vs. Western Reserve Academy Pioneers
After a string of five wins, the Highland Hornets's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell to Western Reserve Academy 55-51. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Highland of the 61-57 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
It was another big night for Maya Nahar, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and seven blocks for Western Reserve Academy. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadyn Brenneman, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Highland's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Western Reserve Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.
Highland will head out on the road to square off against Hathaway Brown at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hathaway Brown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 370th, while Highland is ranked 121st). As for Western Reserve Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against St. Vincent-St. Mary at 2:30 p.m.
