Softball Preview: Mendota Trojans vs. Bureau Valley Storm
The Mendota Trojans will head out on the road to take on the Bureau Valley Storm at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Mendota sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 victory over Plano. The win was just what Mendota needed coming off of a 19-10 loss in their prior matchup.
The team relied heavily on Madelyn Becker, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and a run. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kirby Bond, who went 2-for-3 with a double.
Meanwhile, Bureau Valley had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs), and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Boilermakers.
