Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Maynard

Maynard had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Notre Dame Academy Rebels a 4-0 shutout. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rebels, too.

Not much got past Maddy Karlon, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Notre Dame Academy off the board. Karlon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ryleigh Raschi, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. That home run was her first of the season.

Maynard's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Notre Dame Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Maynard has already played their next game, a 13-4 victory against Marlborough on the 18th. As for Notre Dame Academy, they will head out on the road to take on St. Bernard's Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
