Softball Recap: Manteno's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Manteno dropped their record down to 14-4 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Morris Redskins, falling 17-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Panthers have suffered since April 11th.

As for Morris, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The result was nothing new for Morris, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Morris' part, Tessa Shannon was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Shannon has posted over her last 11 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Halie Olson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manteno will square off against Herscher at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Morris, they will take on Ottawa at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
