After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Liberty, Central was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 32-29 win over the Oak Park Northmen. For the Indians, this counts as revenge for the 52-13 victory the Northmen walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Central's receiving core played a big role in the win, headlined by Drake Gilkison and Cole Hass. Gilkison picked up 125 receiving yards and one score while Hass picked up 48 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Gilkison showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 53 yards.

Central's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-2. As for Oak Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Central will take on rival Park Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Oak Park is set to square off against their familiar foe North Kansas City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
