Basketball Game Preview: West Carroll Thunder vs. Polo Marcos

West Carroll is 0-3 against Polo since December of 2022 but things could change on Saturday. The West Carroll Thunder will square off against the Polo Marcos at 9:00 a.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 74-31, which was the final score in West Carroll's tilt against Galena on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Thunder can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 677th, while the Pirates are ranked 301st).

Meanwhile, Polo came up short against Amboy on Thursday and fell 57-47.

Polo's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-10. As for West Carroll, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-14.

Things could have been worse for West Carroll, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 57-39 loss to Polo in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can West Carroll avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
