Basketball Recap: Alanna Benoit's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mandeville over Denham Springs

Mandeville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 60-43 to the Denham Springs Yellowjackets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Skippers of the 56-42 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

Mandeville lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Alanna Benoit, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. The contest was her third in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Savannah Touchstone, who posted eight points and seven boards.

Mandeville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Denham Springs, their win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2.

Coincidentally, Mandeville and Denham Springs will both be playing Glen Oaks the next time they take the court. The Skippers will host the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Yellowjackets will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on the 16th.
