Liberty-Benton had won three straight home games dating back to last season and Maddy Amstutz did her part to make it four on Tuesday. The Eagles walked away with a 3-1 win over the Defiance Bulldogs thanks in part to Amstutz, who had 40 digs and two assists. She has been hot for a while, having posted 16 or more digs the last 12 times she's played.

Liberty-Benton had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-22, 26-24, 25-10.

When it comes to explaining why Defiance lost, don't look at Kate Homier. Despite the final result, she had 23 digs and two aces.

Liberty-Benton's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Defiance, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Liberty-Benton will look to defend their home court on September 3 against Ada at 5:30 p.m. As for Defiance, they are taking a road trip to square off against Wapakoneta at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs are facing the Redskins at the right time seeing as the Redskins are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
