It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Fairfield ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Groesbeck Goats 5-4. The victory was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Fairfield pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Groesbeck, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-4-1 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairfield will venture away from home to challenge Teague at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Teague will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Fairfield surely won't give up without a fight. As for Groesbeck, they will head out to take on Lorena at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lorena's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Groesbeck's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
