Baseball Game Preview: Andrew Jackson Tigers vs. Yulee Hornets

Andrew Jackson hasn't had much luck against Yulee recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Andrew Jackson Tigers will host the Yulee Hornets at 6:30 p.m. Andrew Jackson has given up an average of 19 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Andrew Jackson is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 26th straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They came up short against Raines, falling 15-5. One positive for the Tigers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Lamar Stanfield made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Parker, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Yulee posted their closest victory since March 2, 2024 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over Wolfson.

Alex Davis was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Yulee: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 2-3 otherwise. Davis was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other pitching news, Jackson Jones looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

Davis wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Logan Riege, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Anderson Hammond also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

The victory got Yulee back to even at 4-4. As for Andrew Jackson, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
