Basketball Game Preview: Owen County Rebels vs. Spencer County Bears

The Owen County Rebels will venture away from home to face off against the Spencer County Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Owen County is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.

Owen County can't be too worried about heading out to take on Spencer County: they just beat Anderson County at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Owen County took down Anderson County 55-38 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Spencer County strolled past Henry County with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 62-45. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won eight in a row.

Spencer County's win came from a few key players Owen County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jack Armstrong, who went 7-for-11 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. That's the most assists he has posted since back in December of 2024. Samuel Seawright was another key player, putting up 13 points and five steals.

Spencer County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Owen County pushed their record up to 18-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points over those games. As for Spencer County, their record is now 16-9.

Owen County lost to Spencer County on the road by a decisive 62-47 margin when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Owen County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
