Baseball Game Preview: Millard South Patriots vs. Millard West Wildcats

The Millard South Patriots will square off against the Millard West Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Millard South is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Millard South is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Elkhorn North, who was ranked 20th at the time (Millard South was ranked second). The Patriots walked away with a 9-5 win over Elkhorn North on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.

Noah Haakinson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Logan Wick was a standout: he scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Will Thomas, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Millard South hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Millard West fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Lincoln North Star on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Navigators by a score of 3-2. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Millard West now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Millard South, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
