Basketball Recap: West Comes Up Short

West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a blow against the Highland Rams, falling 87-48. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 81-53 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, West saw an underclassman step up: sophomore DC Auksitino went 7 of 11 on his way to 17 points. Another player making a difference was Phillip Ladua, who posted 12 points.

Highland's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bodie Dodge, who went 6 for 8 en route to 16 points. Dodge has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Jack Anderton was another key player, going 6 of 8 on his way to 14 points.

West's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Highland, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Olympus the next time they take the court. West will host Olympus at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Highland will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
