Softball Recap: Blountstown Tigers vs. Wewahitchka Gators

Blountstown had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 8-12 to make it five. They fell just short of the Wewahitchka Gators by a score of 7-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-8 back in March.

Blountstown saw nine different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carleigh Cook, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. Another was Kayden Bailey, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

As for Wewahitchka, the victory snapped their losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 5-16 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since March 28, 2024.

On Wewahitchka's side, Jayla Clayton and Eden Rustin did most of the damage at the plate: Clayton got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Rustin went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave Clayton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Rustin, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Blountstown wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-4 victory against Bozeman on the 17th. As for Wewahitchka, they have also already played their next game, an 18-11 win against Vernon on the 17th.
