Softball Recap: Palmetto Mustangs vs. Crescent Tigers
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Belton-Honea Path, Palmetto was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Crescent Tigers. For Palmetto, this counts as revenge for the 1-0 defeat Crescent walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2022.
Halle Tompkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in six consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Graelyn Adams was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Carrigan Holbert, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Palmetto pushed their record up to 21-6 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Crescent, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 20-6.
