Basketball Recap: Douglass Comes Up Short

Douglass lost against Coahoma County last Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Douglass Red Devils might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 38-10 to the Coahoma County Red Panthers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Coahoma County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was LaJeffrey Miller, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Those ten points gave Miller a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Malarie Victory, who posted six points and five steals.

Douglass' loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Coahoma County, they pushed their record up to 14-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Douglass will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Evangelical Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Coahoma County will also get a bit of a break before their next matchup: they'll face off against North Panola at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
