Volleyball Recap: Gilmour Academy Comes Up Short

It was a good run, but Gilmour Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-match winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Bishop Watterson Eagles by a score of 2-1. The Lancers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Gilmour Academy sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 21-25, 25-17.

Despite the loss, Gilmour Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Avery Martin had 15 digs.

Gilmour Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Bishop Watterson, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.

Gilmour Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Northview on the 13th. As for Bishop Watterson, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against West on the 16th.
