Preview: Northwestern Wildcats vs. General McLane Lancers
Northwestern is 0-7 against General McLane since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Northwestern Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the General McLane Lancers at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Wednesday, Northwestern ended up a good deal behind Conneaut and lost 70-55. While losing is never fun, Northwestern can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 350th in Pennsylvania, while Conneaut is ranked 114th in Ohio).
General McLane has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 26 points or more this season. They breezed by Jamestown on the road to the tune of 70-35. That looming 70-35 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for General McLane yet this season.
Northwestern bumped their record down to 0-2 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for General McLane, their win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1.
Northwestern took a serious blow against General McLane when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 66-31. Can Northwestern avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
