Baseball Recap: Mountain View Finds Playoff Glory Versus Rocky Mountain

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mountain View walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies with a sharp 14-4 victory on Saturday. The Mavericks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Mountain View got a massive performance out of Preston Flournoy, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Flournoy has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Braylon Schellhammer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run.

Mountain View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win was the third in a row for Mountain View, bringing their record up to 21-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Rocky Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-8.

Looking ahead, Mountain View will square off against Owyhee at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Storm's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Mavericks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Rocky Mountain does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
