Basketball Game Recap: Independence Patriots vs. Glendale Cardinals

Independence won the last time they faced Glendale, and Anthony Colonna did his part to make sure it happened again. The Independence Patriots walked away with a 49-37 win over the Glendale Cardinals on Tuesday thanks in part to Colonna, who posted 18 points along with six boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds.

The team also got some help courtesy of James Davis, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. He has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last three times he's played.

Glendale's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Simon Sinohui, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals, and Victor Rodriguez, who earned 11 points and six boards. Emmanuel Yanez also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Independence's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-5. As for Glendale, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-6.

Independence has already played their next matchup, a 63-61 win against Sierra Linda on the 23rd. As for Glendale, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-45 defeat against Copper Canyon on the 23rd.
