Baseball Recap: St. Stanislaus Beats Columbia for Their Sixth Straight Win

St. Stanislaus came tearing into Friday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Columbia Wildcats by a score of 4-1. For the Rock-a-Chaws, this counts as revenge for the 9-0 victory the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Jackson Orozco looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, St. Stanislaus' win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Parker Stewart, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another was Tate Murphy, who scored a run while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

St. Stanislaus' victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Columbia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.

St. Stanislaus wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-4 loss against Oak Grove on the 7th. As for Columbia, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Columbia Wildcats face off against Forest Bearcats at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
