Basketball Game Preview: Foothill Trojans vs. Tehachapi Warriors

The Foothill Trojans will face off against the Tehachapi Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Foothill is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell to Del Oro 74-70. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (65), the Trojans still had to take the loss.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Giovani Cruz, who posted 15 points and seven rebounds. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Derrick Sanchez, who put up 19 points and eight boards.

Meanwhile, Tehachapi hadn't done well against West recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Tehachapi breezed by West to the tune of 89-44. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 634th, while the Vikings are ranked 1351st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tehachapi's victory bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Foothill, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-16.
