Recap: Scituate Spartans vs. Juanita Sanchez Complex Cavaliers
This season hasn't been kind to the Scituate Spartans, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They were outmatched by Juanita Sanchez Complex at home and fell 80-44. While losing is never fun, Scituate can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while Juanita Sanchez Complex is ranked eighth).
Scituate's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andy Vigeant, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Ryan Larsh, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Scituate bumped their record down to 0-9 with that defeat, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Juanita Sanchez Complex, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Scituate will take on Prout at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Prout has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 7. As for Juanita Sanchez Complex, they will head out on the road to face off against Ponaganset at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
