Football Recap: Balboa Skates Past Galileo with Ease

Balboa won against Lincoln last Saturday with 42 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. The Buccaneers breezed past the Galileo Lions to the tune of 42-6. Considering the Buccaneers have won eight contests by more than 35 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Rylen Thien-Jones was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 120 yards and two TDs while completing 75% of his passes. Joseph Smith was in the mix too, providing Balboa with one score.

Balboa's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Leading the way was Naioa Tinoifili Shul Cassidy with three sacks. He has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last three times he's played. Balboa received some extra help from Smith, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

The win was the sixth in a row for Balboa, bringing their record up to 8-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.7 points over those games. As for Galileo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Balboa will take on Mission at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Buccaneers will be up against the Bears' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.86 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Galileo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
