Volleyball Recap: Newark Memorial Victorious

Newark Memorial hadn't done well against Irvington recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Cougars came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 2-0. The game was the first time the Cougars have beaten the Vikings on their court since September 14, 2021.

Rianna Bowker was the offensive standout of the game as she had 12 digs and two aces. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (three). Leah Cassidy-White also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.

Newark Memorial now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Irvington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Newark Memorial didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against King City on the 13th. As for Irvington, they are taking a road trip to take on James Logan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
