Softball Recap: Leander Drops Highest Score of Season Against Cedar Park

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Leander). They put the hurt on the Cedar Park Timberwolves with a sharp 17-3 victory on Friday. Considering the Lions have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Scarlett Geurin tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Madelyn Lee was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Allen, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-3.

Leander always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Leander's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cedar Park, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leander will face off against Lehman at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Leander's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Lehman's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cedar Park, they will square off against Rouse at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rouse is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
